Introducing the coaches...
Head Coach and General Manager
Matt is the Football Development Manager at Richmond Athletic AFC, based in Nelson.
With his playing days cut short due to injury, Matt turned to coaching at 26, and has coached the reserve team and 1st team at Richmond for the past 6 seasons, stepping down in 2018 to focus on his development programmes.
Spending 18 months in the UK in 2013, Matt gained valuable experience as the video analyst for Hampton and Richmond Borough FC in the Ryman Premier League. Upon his return to NZ, he took the roles with Richmond AFC and started the Richmond Tasman Westcoast FDP. Matt also currently runs Premier Football Partnerships LTD and is Tasman United's team manager in the New Zealand National Premiership League, and is a Tasman United Academy Coach.
Matt currently holds his Senior Level 2 badge and is actively working towards his OFC B Licence.
Glen is an enthusiastic and talented youth coach and assists across all our programmes to ensure successful delivery.
Glen has played 1st Division football in Nelson for many year's and is a long time club member of Richmond Athletic AFC.
His dedication to improving young footballers is fantastic and he currently holds his Senior Level 1 coaching badge.
Tom came over to NZ from the UK in 2017 to play a season for Richmond Athletic AFC, and loved it so much he's coming back in 2018.
Tom was born in Twickenham, London and spent almost 7 years in the Crystal Palace club structure. He's played for Hampton and Richmond, and Wealdstone, in the Conference League, and for the Metropolitan Police team in the Ryman League, where he is the current team captain. He plays as a centre midfielder or across the back line as a defender.
His interests outside of football is keeping fit and he is a qualified Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach.
