Richmond Athletic Football Club has a very strong player base and has teams in all junior and youth grades. Which Grade Should I Play In? (7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, Intermediate Girls, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, or the Youth Leagues) Nelson Football apply a year of birth rule to determine which grade a player is eligable to play in. This means if the player turns 8 in the calendar year then they should play in the 8th grade. Players may choose to play in a higher grade, but the club must apply for a dispensation to play in a lower grade. Should I Play in Mixed Juniors or a Girls team? It comes down to personal choice. During the first year of inter-club football it is often best to play in the mixed juniors to get an understanding of the basics of the game, have some fun, and see a range of skills on the field. After that the choice is still available - our club leaves it to the players and their parents to determine which is best, but are happy to assist with advice.
